Division is Damaging Our Country

        Independence Day is next week.  We will celebrate the start of our great republic and the greatest experiment in human history.  The freedom and opportunity we have in The United States of America makes us the envy of the world.  I understand why people want to come here.  I just wish they would do it legally.

        The foresight of our founding fathers was unbelievable, but two things happened that they did not anticipate.  They never anticipated the career politician and they never expected the media to become the propaganda arm for one political party.

        The lies, distortion, and propaganda are damaging to out society.  The lame-steam media keeps getting caught in their lies, but instead of apologizing and reporting the truth they continue to spin the lies.

        Political correctness and banning hate speech are the left’s way of getting around the First Amendment’s guarantee of the right to free speech.  They only want freedom of speech if it agrees with their political agenda.        Thousands of brave Americans have bled and died to protect freedom of speech.  Now, I get irritated when liberal idiots want to take it away because some word offends them or hurt their feelings.  They need to grow up.

        Our great universities used to teach how to think, and how to get and evaluate information.  Now, many ban free speech and indoctrinate students on what to think.  Government should deny any financial support to an educational institution that teaches this kind of division and propaganda. 

        The liberal left would love to grow government so a police state could take away freedom of speech and force people to their socialist & globalist views.  “Useful Idiots” is what Vladimir Lenin of the Soviet Union called them.  Social Awareness has become the politically correct term for propaganda with no facts. 

        Both the Democrats and Republicans want to grow government and protect the establishment.  President Trump stands alone in representing the American people.  It is amazing what he has been able to accomplish in a couple or years with most of government working against him.  I am happy so much of the country recognizes who he is and what he is trying to accomplish.

Hypocrisy

        My career has been in business, sales, and marketing.  This has given me a lot of interaction with people.  I learned a lot about human nature.  I understand the world is made up of many different personalities, but I am still amazed at the hypocrisy of the left and never-Trumpers. 

        Sarah Sanders is one of the nicest and most honest people in politics, and she has been ruthlessly attacked by the lame-stream media in her job, in public, and personally.  They are still doing this after she announced her resignation.  This is at the same time the media is attacking President Trump for verbally striking back after someone attacks him.  How can any moral and ethical person be this much of a hypocrite?

        The left still accuses President Trump of Russian collusion and obstruction of justice after the FBI, House Intelligence, Senate Intelligence, and the Mueller investigation found no evidence that he did anything wrong.  Nobody in history has survived this level of vetting.  These are the same people who nominated someone for President who had committed multiple felonies by destroying over 30,000 e-mails after they had been subpoenaed.  How can any moral and ethical person be this much of a hypocrite?

        CNN and MSNBC are calling for Trump’s impeachment, because he said he would listen to foreign powers before calling the FBI.  This is the same Media that thinks Hillary and the Democratic National buying a fake dossier from a foreign power using Russian intelligence is okay.  How can any moral and ethical person be this much of a hypocrite?

        The left claims they want to help the underprivileged and the children of illegal immigrants while the poor already in this country are sleeping in tents and on the streets.  They accuse President Trump of “manufacturing a crisis at the border while thousands are being released into the country with little or no chance of getting legal employment.  The sex trafficking of children is rampant while the left is silent.  The drug traffic across the border is killing over 70,000 Americans a year while the left remains silent.  The Democrats only care about potential voters.  How can any moral and ethical person be this much of a hypocrite?

        The left talks about reparation for blacks because of the past history of slavery but ignore current slavery.  We have sex and labor slaves in the country today since we have an unsecured Southern border.  There are an estimated 27 million people in slavery world wide, primarily in the middle east and Africa.  The left is silent about the problem.  They will overlook an attack on Christians and Jews, but tell us it’s politically unacceptable to say anything bad about a Muslim.  How can any moral and ethical person be this much of a hypocrite?

        One of Trump’s campaign promises was law and order.  He has kept his promise.  Now the left says Trump thinks he is above the law and is creating a constitutional crisis.  This is after we know the Obama administration politicalized federal law enforcement agencies to spy on American citizens and on a political candidate.  This was a real Constitutional crisis.  How can any moral and ethical person be this much of a hypocrite?

Incompetent Congress

        I am totally fed up with the incompetence of the US Congress.  Many members of the House of Representatives and the Senate have been there for years and never done anything to benefit the American people who elected them. 

·       Congress votes the party line and gives the finger to the American people. 

·       Congress votes for their donors and gives the finger to the American people. 

·       Congress votes for international corporations and gives the finger to the American people. 

·       Congress votes for open borders and gives the finger to the American people. 

·       Congress votes for globalism and gives the finger to the American people. 

·       Congress continually grows the size of government, and gives the finger to the American people. 

·       Congress never balances the budget, and gives the finger to the American people. 

·       Congress allows unelected civil servants to create laws without the approval of Congress, and give the finger to the American people. 

·       Congress’s War on Poverty programs have enslaved minorities to a life of poverty while giving the American people the finger.

·       Congress allows unelected bureaucrats to run amuck and ignore the orders of the President giving the finger to the American people.

·       Congress allows unelected bureaucrats to commit crimes for partisan reasons giving the finger to the American people.

·       Congress has Trump-derangement-syndrome and fight him everyway possible while giving the finger to the American people. 

        Congress needs to start doing their job or be replaced.   Any rational person who puts America first, could fix the immigration problem on one day. 

        Getting reelected is the number one priority of members of Congress.  This has to change.  They have to put the American people first. 

        People go to Congress and come out millionaires after a few decades.  Now they want to raise their pay.  The job should be about public service and not power and greed.  It is time for term limits for Congress.   

        The American people are fed up with the bloated federal government and the corrupt establishment.  That is why they elected Donald Trump president.  He has made tremendous progress in spite of the establishment, but he can’t do it himself.  He needs our help in 2020.  We need to clean house in both parties.

Trading Cars

        Americans love their cars.  Cars have been an important part of our culture.  Trading them is not so pleasant or comfortable for some people. 

        I was a new Ford/Mercury dealer for five years and was in the collector car business for ten years.  I will share a few things I learned.

        There is no such thing as a good deal if the vehicle is not what you want.  Cars are too expensive to compromise on a vehicle that is not what you really want.  You will be unhappy with your purchase for five or six years.  Changing vehicles as soon as you realize you made a mistake is very expansive.  

        Are you in the market for a new or used vehicle?  A few decades ago a car was considered used up when it had 100,000 miles on it.  Today, cars and trucks are made better and last longer.  There are many reliable vehicles on the road with 300,000 miles. 

        There was a time when I only bought new vehicles for my personal use, and I bought them every couple years.  Now, I have not bought a new vehicle in thirty years.  I get better value from finding good used vehicles.

        When I was in the car business years ago, there was a saying that it still true today.  It is: “You can’t pay too much for a good used car and you can’t get a rough used car cheap enough.”  Condition is the key factor for buying, selling, or trading used vehicles.

        Finding a new car is easy.  Finding a good used car is a challenge.  If you know what you want in a used car, the internet makes it much easier to find the right one. 

        Do not buy a used vehicle without inspecting it.  You may want to hire someone in the automotive business to inspect it for you.  If the price of a used car is low, it is probably a rough car and not worth buying. 

        I spent ten years in the collector car business.  We bought and sold a lot of cars without seeing them.  This is an art and we still sometimes made mistakes.

        When I was a new car dealer and traded for a rough used car, that car went directly to the auction.  Rough cars were not worth putting on my used car lot.  When a car is listed for below market value, there is a reason - it is rough.

        I recently was interested in buying a used Lincoln MKT.  Over several months, I looked at a half dozen cars in a 100 mile radius.  Most were too rough but were still priced like a nice car.  I finally found one from a private seller that met my standards. 

        If you are buying a car from a dealer, remember that the dealer makes money by financing the car for you or by selling you extras, like extended warranties and dealer options like undercoating and waxes.  Leasing is pushed by dealers today because it is profitable for the dealer and you have to come back at the end of the lease, which gives the dealer the first chance to sell to you again. 

        When you buy a new or used car do you have a car to liquidate?  Selling a car yourself is an option, but can be a hassle and be time consuming.  You will also pay additional tax on the value of your trade if you sell it yourself. 

        A dealer can also make money from your trade.  Is your trade a nice car or a rough car?  If it is a nice car, you must find a dealer with a used car manager who knows used cars.  Unfortunately, the majority do not.  If the appraiser just checks the VIN and mileage with a quick walk-a-round without driving and inspecting your trade, go to another dealer.  If your trade is rough, it doesn’t make a lot of difference.

        We see ads saying you can trade cars from your easy chair today.  Don’t fall for them.  Buying a new car is fine, but used cars will normally be rough.  If you have a trade, the value they give you is for a rough car.  This is the only way they can protect themselves.  They are not giving you a fair values for a nice car.
