AARP or Amac

      I joined Americ  an Association of Retired Persons (AARP) sometime after I had reached the  eligible age.  I was under the false impression that AARP worked in the best interest of seniors.  How wrong I was. 

        AARP has become a marketing organization for supplemental medical insurance.  As a marketing person, I have to admit they do an excellent job.  They actually make some of their members feel they are getting a valuable service. 

      What AARP does not do is work in the best interests of seniors.  The organization is very liberal and support the Democratic Party.  I realized this when they supported ObamaCare, which hurt seniors.

       I dropped my AARP membership and asked to be removed from any AARP mailing lists.  I don’t want to be associated with AARP in any way. 

        I play golf in a senior, best ball league.  I do not refer to it as an AARP league, although many golfers do.  I call it old fart golf, which I consider much more complimentary.

    I would recommend the Association of Mature American Citizens (Amac) as a conservative alternative to AARP.  I like the term mature in the name because it represents people that are mature in more than just years.

        The following are some bullet points from Amac:

·       AARP recently threatened to sue the President.

·       AARP sides with radical left-wing groups.

·       AARP is anti-Trump and claim that seniors agree.

·       Amac pushes for full appeal of ObamaCare.

·       Amac supports President Trump’s agenda.

     Your membership in AARP is a donation to the radical left and is hurting America.  Drop it.  Remove your name from their mailing lists.  Join Amac.  Support your President.

Trump - The Chess Player

        I don’t know if President Trump plays chess, but if he does, he could be a world champion.  He always thinks four moves ahead of everyone else. 

        Even when it appears he has made a mistake, I have learned to just wait and see how things work out.  His success may not be immediate, but he always seems to achieve his objective in the end. 

        I said four moves ahead, but he is more often as many as eight moves ahead of the lame-stream media.  He plays them like a fiddle, and they never seem to catch on to what he is doing. 

        Trump is unique as a President for several reasons.  He is not a traditional politician.  He attempts to keep all his campaign promises.  He is not obligated to anyone in the swamp, deep state, or big money.  He does not owe any party hard-liners any favors.  He is smart, and he thinks four moves ahead.

It's About Time

        Our country has had a problem with immigration for at least 50 years.  Politicians and past Presidents talk immigration reform and use the issue to divide the country, but never fix the problem.  Anyone who really wanted to fix the problem was called a racist.  Thank goodness, we finally have a President who is addressing the problem. 

        We have had a problem with law and order in this country.  The political elite felt they were above the law.  Past Presidents enforced laws selectively based on their personal political agenda.  One President issued executive orders that were clearly in violation of the Constitution.  States passed laws that were in clear violation of federal law.  Thank goodness, we finally have a President who is addressing the problem. 

        We have had a problem with trade since WWII.  It has hurt the American worker, but the political elite have used it to their advantage.  Past Presidents have made the problem worse by promoting free trade that was not fair.  Thank goodness, we finally have a President who is addressing the problem. 

        We over-taxed our citizens and our companies, which put America at a disadvantage in the world market.  Past Presidents have talked tax reform and done nothing.  Thank goodness, we finally have a President who is addressing the problem. 

        We have a problem with ISIS and terrorism.  We are at war with radical Islam.  The last President couldn’t even say the words Islamic terrorists, much less deal with the problem. Thank goodness, we finally have a President who is addressing the problem. 

        Our position as a world leader was in tatters.  Potential problems with Iran, North Korea, Russia, and China threatened our economy and world peace.  The last three presidents all kicked these problems down the road and even made them worse.  Thank goodness, we finally have a President who is addressing the problems. 

        Our country was at a political and economic disadvantage due to oil dependency on foreign nations.  We now are energy independent.  Thank goodness, we finally have a President who is addressing the problem. 

        Our healthcare costs are out of control and Obama Care was a disaster.  Politicians do not know the difference between health care and medical insurance.  Thank goodness we finally have a President that is addressing the problem. 

        Liberals have used minorities as political pawns for fifty years, but have never improved their quality of life.  In many cases minorities have been enslaved to welfare.  Now these minorities have the lowest unemployment of any time in history.  Thank goodness, we finally have a President who is addressing the problem.

Second Amendment

       The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America: 

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

        I don’t see any mention of only guns used for hunting.  Hunting is not the reason for the amendment.  I did not see any exceptions for weapons that look scary.  I did not see any exceptions for weapons which had been used by criminals, crazy people, or terrorists. 

     The reference to a militia was not limited to a government military.  It referred to citizens that could and would defend their country. 

      Isoroku Yamamoto was Commander-In-Chief of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II:  He was aware of the civilian militia.  He said;

You cannot invade the mainland United States.  There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

       Our founding fathers had such amazing foresight that I am continually amazed.  The argument that the Constitution is outdated and should be modified as a living document has constantly been shown to be wrong.  

         The intention of the Second Amendment is quite clear.  George Washington wrote:

A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them which would include their own government. 

        “Their own government” is an important part of his statement.   What happens after the government takes away guns?  Here is a little history: 

·       1911 in Turkey:  1.5 million people killed by government

·       1929 in Soviet Union:  40 million killed by government

·       1935 in China:  50 million people killed by government

·       1938 in Germany:  13 million people killed by government

·       1956 in Cambodia:  One million people killed by government

·       1964 in Guatemala:  100,000 people killed by government

·       1970 in Uganda:  300,000 people killed by government

·       1994 in Rwanda:  One million people killed by government

      I am sure most people think this could never happen here, because it can only happen in a country where political leaders and bureaucrats have a political agenda, feel they are above the law, and are accountable to no one.  I may have just scared myself when I think about the deep state.  Could it happen here? 

        Support the Second Amendment, and President Trump to clean up the swamp.

Deep State

        When I first heard about the Deep State, I thought it was just a conspiracy theory.  Now I know better, and the threat to this country seems to be more dangerous as we learn more.  President Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon said, “If you think they are going to give your country back without a fight, you are sadly mistaken.”

A few of the people in the corrupt Deep State are:

·       FBI Director James Comey

·       U.S. Attorney General, Loretta Lynch

·       FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe

·       FBI Deputy Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok

·       FBI attorney Lisa Page

·       FBI General Counsel James Baker

·       DOJ Senior Official Bruce Ohr

·       Director of National Intelligence James Clapper

·       Director of CIA John O. Brennans

·       U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.

·       National Security Advisor Susan Rice

·       Secretary of State Hilary Clinton

        All of these people have lied to Congress and withheld and/or destroyed records requested by Congress.  They all feel they are above the law and accountable to no one, including Congress or the President.  Some have made threats against ANYONE who would dare to oppose them.

        Is this just the tip of the iceberg?  This is not about Democrats or Republicans.  It certainly should not be.  These positions should be totally nonpartisan. 

                    FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was recently fired from the FBI for leaking information and then lying about it.  His dismissal was based on recommendations by the nonpartisan Department of Justice Inspector General and the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility.   In spite of McCabe’s claims, his firing was not politically motivated in any way.  The Attorney General had no choice based on the recommendations of the IG and OPR. 

        It is also interesting that McCabe’s statements directly contradict those of his former boss, FBI Director James Comey.  If McCabe was smart, he would be quiet, because he is still facing criminal charges.   

        I am deeply disturbed with the corruption at the highest levels of our government, and am very impatient to have it all exposed and cleaned up.  Drain the swamp. 

        Thank God Donald Trump was elected or none of this would have been exposed.  What would have happened to our great country?

DACA, Dreamers & Democrats

        DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals is an executive order by President Obama to allow minor children that came to the country illegally to remain here legally.  These individuals are often referred to as dreamers.  Some of these kids could now be as old as 36.  The number of dreamers is about 800,000.

        The DACA policy was implemented by President Obama as an executive order, and as such is clearly unconstitutional.  The problem is that most dreamers are here through no fault of their own and most are good people who contribute to our society. 

        President Trump could have just repealed the unconstitutional executive order, but instead he sent the DACA issue back to Congress, and recommended a bill that was very humanitarian.  He offered a path to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal immigrants. 

        The Democratic Party promised to help 800,000 dreamers, and Trump offered a path to citizenship for over twice that many.  The Democratic Party should have declared a victory and voted for the plan.  Their hate for Trump is greater than their desire to help the dreamers.  Democrats don’t want to solve the problem.  They want to keep it a political issue. 

        I have a problem with rewarding illegal immigrants a path to citizenship, but I do have sympathy for the dreamers.  Trump’s proposal was a compassionate compromise as long as we secure the border so we won’t be facing the same issue again in a decade.  

        All President Trump asked for in the DACA bill was to secure the border with a wall where needed, stop the immigration lottery, and stop chain immigration.  This was not sufficient reason for Democrats to vote against the bill.  All three must be assured before the dreamers are given a path to citizenship.

        I don’t know what the Democratic agenda is, except to oppose President Trump’s every move.  That is not working out very well. 

        Democrats just won a Congressional seat in Pennsylvania.  They put forward a good candidate.  He talked more like a Republican than a Democrat on the issues like the Second Amendment, abortion, and others.  He even said he did not support Nancy Pelosi.  It would be nice if he kept those campaign promises when he votes in Congress, but it is safe to assume he will vote the party line.

        The Democrats could have claimed a win with DACA, but they hated Trump more.  Trump just keeps winning.  How is that working out for the Democrat Party?

Fair Trade

        I posted my first blog on Common Sense, Business & Politics on January 18, 2012.  In that blog I listed my seven greatest fears for this country.  One of the seven was our deficit trade balance.  I’m sure many of my readers did not consider our trade deficit that big a problem at that time.  I did and still do. 

        I am a proponent of free trade, but only if it is fair trade.  America’s trade policies have not been in the best interests of the country for decades.

        I am not an economist, but I do have some business experience and eighteen collage hours in economics.  I always thought economics was common sense.  If you have more money going out than coming in, you have a problem.

        Our country’s negative trade policies date back to post WWII.  We intentionally allowed bad trade policies in order to help rebuild war-torn countries.  It may have been a good policy then, but that time has passed.

        We now have a trade problem and I am happy President Trump is keeping another campaign promise by addressing that problem.  We have not had a positive trade balance since 1975.  Our negative trade balance is hurting American workers and the economy. 

        The new tariffs will help rebuild our steel and aluminum industries.  These industries are in trouble, and we can’t afford to have them disappear.  Our Military and national security are dependent on strong domestic steel and aluminum industries.  Our industrial strength was one reason we were victorious in WWII.

        The new tariffs on steel and aluminum may hurt some business in the short-run, but it will be good in the long run.  Harly-Davidson motorcycles are built here in Wisconsin.  They use steel and aluminum and those costs may go up in the short-run, but many countries importing Harly-Davidson bikes now charge a 30% to 100% tariff.  That will change in future negotiations because of the new tariffs. 

        There may be a short trade war, but it will be short lived and American will be stronger in the end.  I understand some politicians are against the tariffs.  These are the ones controlled by political donations of special interest groups.  They need to represent American and not special interests.  Thank God, President Trump cannot be bought and is not controlled by the political party elites.

        Some globalist economists don’t agree with President Trump because he puts America first.  I agree with Trump.  I do not support the globalist idea of worldwide wealth redistribution. 

        Mexico and Canada have been exempted from the steel and aluminum tariffs, and this will be a major bargaining point in renegotiating the North America Free Trade Agreement.  NAFTA goes back to Reagan’s presidency.  I have disagreed with every president since on NAFTA.  I do not have a problem with free trade with Mexico and Canada, but it has to be fair.  That has not been the case.  The United States has been getting the short end of the deal.  It is time for a change.
