Surveys show many people would like to
be their own boss, but few achieve this goal.
Why?
The biggest reason is that the potential
entrepreneur doesn’t properly investigate and evaluate their options. They hope the right business will find
them. It does not work that way. Investigating self-employment options
requires work.
The first step is not finding a product
or service that the potential entrepreneur is familiar with or finds
interesting. The first step is a self
evaluation. The second step is
determining what his or her role will be in the business, and where help will
be needed.
Next is finding a business model or
system that fits the individual’s strengths and weaknesses. We all have strengths and weaknesses.
Only then is the specific product or
service a consideration. Most people I
coach find a business that they never would have considered on their own. This approach is what I call an Inside-Out
approach in my book Business Fits.
Not everyone should be
self-employed. This process will determine
that for an individual, and reveal that they will then be more comfortable in
their career as an employee.
One business development director said
this about my book Business Fits:
Make this book your
FIRST business investment. It will be
the best money you spend.
Terry provides time
honored and practical advice. This is a
great book to help determine if entrepreneurship is right for you and THEN what
franchise would work best. So many
people jump in without vetting themselves and end up deep. This book will put the end to that.
Terry writes about
practical and honest advice and solutions.
He not only knows a lot about business, but he has lived through a lot
of the lessons learned.
Make this book your
first business investment. It will save
you time and heartache regardless of finding the right business fit for you. – Kenneth Pearson
