Garbage In = Garbage Out

Anyone who has worked with computers or data bases has heard the saying, “Garbage in = Garbage out.”  Data can never be accurate or relevant without good input.  We have seen that with the Wuhan virus.  Every prediction and model from the medical community has been wrong.  They have not been accurate enough to have any relevance.
The problem is not that the science is bad.  The problem is that the data is bad.  Some people are saying we need more testing and that may be true, because the data is garbage now.
The number of people who have contracted the Wuhan virus is grossly understated.  Many people have never been tested and have had such a mild case they never showed any symptoms.  Some so-called experts say the actual number of people who have had the Wuhan virus is 10 to 100 times the number reported.
We also know for a fact that the number of deaths from the Wuhan virus is grossly overstated.  Hospitals are reporting almost any death not ruled a homicide as being caused by the virus.  There are clear political and financial incentives for this reporting.
Because of the virus, people don’t go to the hospital as soon as they have in the past.  As a result, deaths from heart attacks, strokes and many other physical ailments are taking more lives.  These deaths are being counted as Wuhan virus deaths.  I guess they are indirectly a result of the virus.
With the number of deaths over reported and the number of people contracting the virus grossly understated, so the mortality rate for the virus becomes overstated by probably 100% or more.  When Governors say they are issuing stay-at-home orders and shutting down the economy based on the science, I have to ask, “What science?”
I don’t want to see anyone die, but we can’t have an economic shutdown that does more damage and kills more people than it saves.  Is government doing this?

God bless President Trump and guide him to make America great again.

Thank You

I wish to thank everyone who supported me for my reelection as a Barron County Supervisor representing the Prairie Lake district.  It is an honor and privilege to serve in this position.  As a County Supervisor, I also have the privilege of representing Barron County on the Barron County Economic Development Board, and the seven county Regional Business Fund board.  These organizations do a lot for the people of Barron County and western Wisconsin
When I was young, I was very active in community affairs.  As a Ford Mercury dealer, I was involved with the city, county, and my church.  Over the years I got burned out and dropped out of most of these involvements.  Career, physical moves, and life seemed to get in the way.
After Marla and I moved to Prairie Lake, we were semi-retired.  As a retired Federal Mediator, Marla did some binding arbitration.  She had always been an avid reader and saw an ad in the paper to form a writer’s group.  She now has nine books out and is working on number ten.  She no longer has time for the arbitration.  It is good to stay active.
After the move to Prairie Lake, Marla knew I had done some acting in high school and saw an ad for tryouts for Twelve Angry Men.  I now have had the honor of being in seventeen plays and serving on the board of the Barron Spotlighters.
I became a news junkie and also became interested in politics.  I got involved with the Tea Party movement and started to write a blog called Common Sense, Business & Politics.
When I first was encouraged to run for County Supervisor, Marla said since I was interested in government,  I should get involved on a local level.  I said that I just liked to bitch about the federal government and didn’t know anything about local government.
I am glad I got involved at the local level and am thankful for the privilege of serving as a Barron County Supervisor.  Retirement should be more than golf, fishing, and grandchildren.  We all have a lot to offer.  Get involved.
        Thanks again for your support.

God bless President Trump and guide him to make America great again.

Do It Again

President Trump helped the United States create the greatest economy the world has ever seen.  Then the Coronavirus pandemic hit.  The world and our economy have taken a terrible hit.  How big a contributing factor was China?  We will probably never know.
The pandemic is a tragedy and many people have and will die, but we are turning the corner.  The World Health Organization and the medical experts have been wrong with every model and every prediction.  I’m not saying we should ignore their advice, but we have to look at them critically and consider the overall welfare of the country.
Businesses are failing.  People are out of work.  Crime is up as much as 400% in some categories.  Government debt is out of control.  Some medical experts say we need to stay shut down for another eighteen months.  That would turn this country into a third world country where poverty and death would make casualties from the Coronavirus seem insignificant.
If we start soon, the recovery will be a tough balancing act, but will still be possible.  Thank God we have the greatest President in history.  I believe he can take the country to heights we have never seen before.
President Trump made us energy independent.  We must be independent in every area including defense and medicine.  Being dependent on China for medicine and medical devices was short sighted.
I am not advocating a policy of isolation, but globalist ideas must stop.  People will BUY American, and the country will come out of this pandemic stronger than ever.  Any business dependent on a product made in China better look for a source in this country. I know I will start looking for products marked “Made in the USA.”

Trump can and will do it again.

God bless President Trump and guide him to make America great again.

Social Distancing & Common Sense

Social Distancing is simple for people that have any common sense.  I saw an interview with someone from a mid-western state that passed the peak of the COVID-19 crisis and never issued a stay at home warning.  When asked why they had been so successful, the answer was “common sense.”  Too bad more people don’t use common sense.
Some people have attended many outdoor events like Mardi gras.  Maybe they thought they were safe because it was outdoors.  Now New Orleans is a hot bed of Corvid-19.
I heard New York’s mayor was shutting down the basketball courts, since playing basketball is not social distancing.  I can’t think of many things more likely to spread the virus.
Not too long ago that same mayor said it was okay to attend a large Chinese festival.  How did that work out?
I was at Wal-Mart for some things we needed.  I saw entire families there with their kids.  One woman was in the line for prescriptions with young kids.  She and the kids were coughing.  How dumb can people be?
Marla and I like to play bridge.  The senior center where we play is closed and it would be too large a group to be safe by any standards.  We don’t even play with another couple anymore.  Four people sitting directly across from each other for several hours is risky.  The cards can also carry a lot of germs.
Many people are off work and think it is a vacation.  Some travel to a vacation home.  These people should bring all their provisions with them and sequester themselves for fourteen days before going out in the community.  Travel spreads the virus.
I don’t think people need to totally quarantine themselves unless they have been traveling, but they need to use some common sense, a quality rapidly diminishing in out country.

God bless President Trump and guide him to make America great again.

Limits on Legislation

In July of 2013 I did a blog on Limited Government.  The number one concern of our founding fathers was our federal government getting too big, without any checks and balances.  The Constitution clearly defines what things are the responsibility of the states and which are the responsibility of the federal government.  We have ignored this division of power.  The federal government has become  power hungry and out of control.
There needs to be limits to the length of any bill proposed in Congress.  Members of Congress don’t even read a bill before passing it, but with a 2,400 page bill, like Obama Care, most legislators will not read it.  I would like to see a fifty page maximum for any bill.  Think what this would achieve.  Legislators would actually be able read a bill before voting on it.
All earmarks have to be eliminated.  Every piece of legislation should be a single issue voted on for its own merits, with no bundling of unrelated issues.  No deals would be made for votes by adding earmarks.  We cannot legislate every possible situation anyway, so there would have to be some common sense interpreting the bill.  I know some of you think advocating the use of common sense in government is an oxymoron, but we must try.
In the Creative Financing chapter or my book, Business Fits, I address the need to keep documents simple.  I mention an investor agreement that my attorney drafted that was fourteen legal pages long, making it was too long and too intimidating. I revised the agreement to one 8 ½ x 11 page document with room for signatures, and gave it back to him.  He admitted the one page revision covered everything needed and approved it.
Pelosi’s proposed stimulus bill for the COVID-19 relief was over 1400 pages long and contained earmarks for things like the Green New Deal which were totally unrelated and never could pass on their own.  I find this kind of partisan politics unethical, moral, and disgusting.
We must observe the Constitution and clean up the legislation that Congress passes.  If it needs an attorney to interpret it, it should be rewritten.

God bless President Trump and guide him to make America great again.

Good From COVID-19

The Coronavirus pandemic is terrible, and people die, but there are some good things that will come from it.  I hope we have learned a lot about how to handle a pandemic, because we will have more of them and probably more deadly ones in the future.
·  We learned how and when to shut down our boarders and air travel.
·  Our youth learned they are not immune and invincible.
· Our medical profession is learning how to deal with the pandemic.  They are leaning how to triage patients so the system is not overwhelmed.
·   We learned that we must be self-sufficient as a country.  We can not be dependent on imports for medical supplies.
·  Private industry learned how to adapt to fill the needs of the country just as the American automobile industry played a major role in winning WWII.
· Both private and public sectors learned about the importance of national security.  I like the story about the New York mob who told the President that they would take care of security of the New York harbor during WWII.
·  We are learning how to deal with economic impact and recovery.
·  We learned that business is not totally dependent on travel for face-to-face meetings.  They are too expensive and inefficient in many cases.
·  I hope and pray our politicians have learned to work together.  I am sick of partisan politics.  Trump was accused of being a racist when he first restricted travel and later he was accused of reacting too slowly.  Politicians who criticize everything our President does and only wants power to advance their liberal agenda.  They don’t care about the American people.

God bless President Trump and guide him to make America great again.

Coronavirus

It is time for some common sense.  The history of the world includes the Plague, the Black Death, the Spanish flu, smallpox, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, H1N1 in 2009, and many other pandemics.  We will see more.
The United States and the world health organizations are doing a great job controlling the spread of the  Coronavirus.  The other problem is that to be the media and the politicians are blowing the story out of proportion for ratings and political gain.
We all need to use common sense.  Stay home if you are sick.  Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.  Avoid unnecessary international travel and air travel in general.  The most important thing you must do is WASH YOUR HANDS.
It is true that Coronavirus has and will cause death, but put things in perspective.  The flue kills more people every year and people still don’t get the flu shot.  Drugs kill even more people and some idiots still advocate for open borders where the majority of the drugs enter our country.  Use of cell phones while driving even kills more people, but people still do it.
Use some common sense.  Don’t panic.  Buying a year’s supply of toilet paper is not a solution.  That is just idiotic.

God bless President Trump and guide him to make America great again.
