Perish Together as Fools

        We celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. last week.  He was a leader in the civil rights movement in this country.  He did not advocate violence, division, or special consideration.  He only asked for equality.  

        He was the key note speaker at a Luther League convention I attended in 1961.  I like this quote from King.  “We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.”  He would be disgusted and appalled with today’s division politics.  Both political parties do it, but the Democrats have made a science out of dividing the country.

        Last week a teenager was accused as being a racist all over the lame-stream media.  He did nothing but remain calm and try to avoid any confrontation.  First some black Muslims called him all kinds of names and threatened him.   The a Native American approached him while chanting and beating a drum.

        What was this teenager’s real crime?  He was a white male from a Christian school, and he might even have been straight sexually.  That would make him part of a group targeted by the liberal left. 

        AND, heaven forbid, he also was wearing a Make-America-Great-Again cap.  Political correctness already takes away freedom of speech.  Now the left wants to also ban any clothing that they find offensive and does not agree with their political agenda. 

        Two days before fake news had another breaking story when Buzzfeed broke a totally false story that Trump had instructed his attorney to lie.  The Mueller investigation made a statement that the story was false. 

        On The View Whoopi Goldberg asked why the media kept jumping the gun with false stories that took away their credibility.  Joy Behar gave an honest answer when she said they would do anything to hurt President Trump.  That apparently includes making up news and spreading lies.   It is no wonder that less than 15% of the population feel they can believe or trust the news. 

        The anti-Trumpers know that if they can get the media to repeat a lie often enough, some people will believe it even if it is proven false later.  The media ignores the Constitution, ignores the presumption of innocence, ignores the right to due process, and rushes to judgment.

        The media has to read something negative into everything President Trump does, because there are no real issues they can blame him for.  The Mueller investigation has found absolutely nothing Trump has done wrong after two years.

        Martin Luther King would praise President Trump and agree with making America great again for all Americans including the black community.

Successful Systems

             In my book Business Fits, I define marketing as:

Marketing is a total system of interacting business activities designed to plan, price, promote, and deliver want satisfying goods and services to present and potential customers.

          The key message is that no one element of marketing can produce successful marketing.  Advertising alone will not work.  Sales alone will not work.  A web site alone will not work.  Telemarketing alone will not work.  Signs and location alone will not work.  There is no one element of marketing that will be successful on its own.

        One of the major errors many new entrepreneurs make is not developing a complete marketing program for their new business.  That is one reason that franchising is so successful.  Any good franchise will have a proven business system including a proven marketing plan. 

        I recently had contact with a successful franchise that has a marketing system they call “Relationship Marketing.”  The system has been refined and proven over 45 years and is designed to generate referrals that generate business.  It is quite unique.

        Our national security and boarder security also require a complete system to be successful.  Securing our southern border requires infrastructure, technology, and personnel to be successful.  The infrastructure will only be required in some areas, and might be a wall, fence, or some other barrier.  Without the barrier no amount of technology or personnel can be successful.  It would be as stupid as starting a business with no marketing plan except to buy a newspaper ad.

        Nancy Pelosi is not interested in solving our immigration problems or working for the American people.  She wants a political win.  She wants to oppose President Trump and does not care who she hurts in the process. 

        Pelosi went on vacation in Hawaii for the holidays when she should have been working with President Trump.  Democrats took a long weekend in Puerto Rico that was paid for by the lobbyists they represent, when they should have been working with President Trump to reopen the government for the American people. Pelosi and other Democrats were planning a week-long worldwide goodwill tour at government expanse until President Trump put a stop to it.  

        How can Nancy Pelosi and other left-wing Democrats have total disregard for the American people because of partisan politics?  I am fed up with partisan, division politics and I think most Americans are too.  Biased polls may not show this, but we can’t trust polls.  I don’t participate in them.  They predicted Hillary would win in a landslide.  How did that work out?

Thespians

     I am not a professional or even an accomplished  good thespian but I enjoy acting.  I had roles in plays all four years of high school.  It was a lot of fun.  I then retired from the stage for 45 years, but I often said I wouldn’t mind doing some community theater if I ever had time. 

      In 2007, Marla saw a local community theater was having auditions for Twelve Angry Men and encouraged me to try out. Since then, I have had roles in sixteen plays in three different community theaters.  I am currently in rehearsals for number seventeen. 

     I meet some great people in community theater, but it does take a lot of time.  Memorizing lines is a lot harder than I remember in high school. 

       I admire good thespians and enjoy attending the theater.  But I have noticed that some of the most amazing actors are not on the stage or screen, but on our political news channels. 

     Watch Chris Cuomo, Jim Acosta, and Don Lemon on CNN, Rachel Maddow on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough on Morning Joe, Chris Hahn on Tucker Carlson Tonight, Juan Williams on The Five, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, or House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.  They are all very talented actors.  I could never lie like they do with a straight face and sound convincing.  They are very, very good.    

     It is amazing how they spin the news.  For years, Democrats recognized and promised to do something about the crisis on our southern boarder.  President Obama called it a “Humanitarian Crisis” that had to be dealt with.  The liberal left agreed, and the lame-stream media fawned over him as usual. 

       Now the crisis has become more severe due to drug cartels, gangs, and caravans of migrants.  It is now a humanitarian crisis that has turned into a threat to our national security.  President Trump is not just talking, but actually trying to do something about it.  Now the media and Democrats are trying to say it is a “Manufactured Crisis.”  How can they be so hypocritical?

       It is a shame that Trump derangement syndrome has brought our great country to this point. The liberal left would rather ignore crime, drugs, and sex trafficking than secure our border, because they don’t want to give Trump what they consider a victory.  It would actually be a win for the American people.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform

       Everyone verbally agrees we need comprehensive immigration reform.  Some advocate an open border policy.  Most agree that we should secure our borders, but liberal Democrat actions and voting records clearly show they want open borders. 

        I have heard politicians promise to secure the border and legislate immigration reform since the 1970s.  It never happens, because the liberal left and the political elite don’t want it to happen.  The left wants the immigrant vote since they don’t represent the working class any more.  The political elite make too much money from illegal immigrants. 

        True comprehensive immigration reform is not possible without first securing our borders.  Some immigration legislation has been a disaster.  The lottery and chain migration has to stop. 

        We need immigrants who want to assimilate and contribute to this great country, not change it.  Giving amnesty or a path to citizenship for illegals has promoted even more illegal immigration. 

        Laws that prevent the hiring of illegal immigrants are good, but of no value if they are not enforced.  Sanctuary cities and states encourage illegal immigration and the crime that results.

        We need immigration reform in all areas, but it must start with securing our southern border.  All the people actually involved in this horrendous task say a physical barrier, fence, or wall is essential.  The opposition has a political agenda to oppose Trump and/or ignores the facts. 

        The opposition says $5 billion is too expensive, but illegal immigrants cost the country $150 billion a year.  The current proposed Democratic budget has $12 billion for foreign aid and zero for the wall.  Would you rather give money to foreign countries, many of which hate us, or stop the drugs, gangs and sex trafficking coming across our southern border. 

        We need to clarify the 14^th Amendment to the Constitution.  It was passed to give citizenship to the children of slaves born in this country.  It has been misinterpreted to include children of illegal immigrants born in this country.  Women endanger their lives and the lives of their unborn children to enter the country illegally.  They think that their child will be a citizen and as the mother they will be allowed to stay also.

        We have a stalemate because Pelosi doesn’t want to alienate their base.  Forget the politics.  This is about national security.  Trump stayed in Washington over the holidays.  He was willing to work on the problem, but Pelosi was too busy vacationing in Hawaii.  She hates Trump more than she cares about the drugs and sex trafficking on the border, or about the government workers not getting a paycheck.

        The left says we are in a Constitutional crisis, and I agree.  They hate Trump because the country elected him President.  They attack President Trump and everyone who supports him personally.  They ignore the facts and believe the lame-stream media propaganda.  When they have no facts to support their position, they call people immoral or racist, or try to intimidate with protests and shouting.  They would rather destroy this country than support or work with one of the greatest Presidents in history.
